The township is well developed with civic hall, eateries, clinics, post office, primary school and police station. It was awarded the most beautiful township in 1996.

Tongkang Pecah is becoming an industrial center with several famous and publicly listed companies such as Hup Seng, Hwa Tai, Munchi and Yong Tai setting up their bases here.

As a result of many factories in the area, it is a common sight to see foreign workers, especially Vietnamese, cycling along the trunk road (Jalan Tongkang Pecah) during day and night, which can be pretty dangerous to other road users.
